ABOUT LASER VEIN REMOVAL
Laser hair removal has become a popular choice for removing unwanted hair. Because of its precision, lasers can be used to permanently remove hair painlesly and without damage to surrounding skin.
HOW DOES LASER VEIN REMOVAL WORK?
The laser penetrates the skin keeping the skin intact until the laser reaches its target (the vein). The laser is quickly absorbed by the target. At this point, the energy from the laser is converted to heat and destroys the vein without harming any surrounding tissue. Since the vein is now destroyed, the body will gradually remove what's left of the vessel which may take a short time. You will be provided with a pair of medical stockings (looks like regular panty hose) to wear to speed up healing and prevent return of the vein. Typically, one might have to wear the stockings from a couple of days up to a week.
WHAT AREAS CAN BE TREATED? Common areas of hair removal include underarms, chest, back, legs and bikini lines, but virtually any area can be treated.
WHY OCEAN MEDICAL CLINIC USE THE LYRA LASER AND HOW DOES IT DIFFER FROM OTHER LASERS?
Although many lasers exist for vein removal, not all veins are alike. As a result, the clinic utilizes two different laser systems, which produces better results than any single laser system available. The lasers are delivered through a pen-like device that is kept cool constantly by an internal pump to protect the patient's skin and provide the highest level of comfort.
Through the use of the combined laser systems, both blue and red veins can be removed.
All lasers are FDA approved for all skin types, including very dark and tanned patients.
IS IT WIDELY RECOGNIZED ?
The removal of veins using the lasers from Laserscope has been clearly established. Many highly recognized and respected plastic surgeons and dermatologists depend these lasers to treat their patients.
WHEN WOULD A PHYSICIAN USE LYRA AS OPPOSE TO OTHER TYPES OF LASER ?
Many lasers can not safely be used on tanning patients or on all skin types. A physician would select Lyra to safely and effectively treat veins of varying sizes on any skin color.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE NECESSARY ?
At least 2 treatments six weeks apart is necassary to remove the undesirable veins. Some veins may be removed completely with 1 treatment and other veins may require more than 2 treatments. Factors that determine the number of treatments include the vein size, vein length, and vein connections (i.e., are how many veins are connected to the target vein).
