ABOUT SCULPTURA
Sculptura is a synthetic injectable material known as "poly-L-lactic acid". Poly-L-Lactic acid is a biocompatible,biodegradeable material that has been widely used for many years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, & other types of implants.

WHO MIGHT BENEFIT FROM SCULPTURA?
Sculptura is intended for the restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus.

HOW DOES SCULPTURA WORK?
Sculptura is injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss. Sculptura provides an increase in skin thickness. Visible results appear in the first few sessions.

ARE THE RESULTS FROM SCULPTURA IMMEDIATE?
No. In your first treatment visit it may appear that Sculptura worked immediately. That is because the swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute Sculptura.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED ?
Your health care provider will decide with you the number of treatment sessions and the amount of Sculptura you will need at each treatment session. Patients with severe facial fat loss may require three to six treatment sessions. Touch up treatments may be needed to maintain the desired effect.

DO INJECTIONS OF SCULPTURA HURT?
As with any injection, injections with Sculptura may hurt. Sculptura is injected in small amounts using a very fine needle. Your health care provider may apply a topical or local anesthetic.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT TO HAPPEN AT A TREATMENT SESSION?
Your health care provider will answer all your questions and prepare you for the treatment.

  • Make-up should be removed
  • The areas where the injections will be given will be cleaned with an antiseptic.
  • You and your health care provider will determine if a topical or local anesthetic is needed.
  • Scupltura will be injected in small amounts into the skin using a very fine needle. Multiple injections will be eneded.
  • An ice pack should be applied to the treatment area to help reduce swelling.
  • After the treatment session, the area should be thoroughly massaged to distribute the product evenly.
